Mile in My Shoes’ mission is running together to transform ourselves, one another, and our community. Our vision: We connect communities to heal past wounds, break generational cycles, disrupt oppressive systems, and contribute to a more caring, just, and equitable world.
How does MiMS work? We partner with residents in shelters, re-entry centers, and recovery programs to build a running community that also includes a broad base of volunteers from throughout the Twin Cities. Runners meet three times a week for a group run, pairing up one Run Mentor to one Resident Member with the goal of increasing physical and mental fitness and forming uncommon bonds.
Will you support MiMS this Give to the Max Day? Your gift puts us in position to build on our big accomplishments during 2025. To share just a few, this year MiMS has helped:
243 people complete their first mile with MiMS
118 Members complete 10 runs
77 Members achieve alumni status
Over 430 people traditionally excluded from running complete the Downtown Run Around 5k race by giving them free race entries
When you give to MiMS, you give us a head start on our big goals for the coming year: Welcome even more new Members to the circle, help more of those Members become Alumni, give away more race entries to communities underrepresented in the running space, and build additional injury prevention and mental health programming for Members.
Please help us reach our goal of $60K for Mile in My Shoes teams. As a thank you for donating between now and November 20, you'll receive the following gifts at these donation levels:
Mile in My Shoes brings people from diverse backgrounds together through the power of running. Our teams of Resident Members (people staying in shelters, reentry centers, and recovery programs) and volunteer Run Mentors have run thousands of miles side by side, completing races from one mile to a full marathon(!) in pursuit of our vision: to connect communities to heal past wounds, break generational cycles, disrupt oppressive systems, and contribute to a more caring, just, and equitable world.
