For seven years, I've sat on the Mile in My Shoes (MiMS) board of directors, and for the last three I've volunteered as a Run Mentor on MiMS' Distance Crew. This summer and fall, I trained with the crew and paced Alumni Members Matt and Dylan at the French 5K Trail Race (the first trail race ever for Dylan and me), City of Lakes Half Marathon, and Wooza Palooza 10K celebrating Mile in My Shoes' 10th(!) birthday. (The three of us are pictured above at the Wooza.)
In honor of MiMS' first 10 years—and to launch us into our next decade—this Give to the Max Day (November 21) a group of intrepid Alumni Members, Run Mentors, and Board Members are running a "Tour de MiMS" from team site to team site. While I can't swing the full 40 miles, I'll be jumping in for at least 10!
When you donate, your gift keeps us running not just on Give to the Max Day but into 2025, as our seven teams across the Twin Cities connect MiMS' Run Mentors with Residents Members experiencing homelessness, recovering from substance use, reentering the community after incarceration, and navigating life after military service.
What's more, thanks to generous matching donors, your donation instantly doubles. Like another perk? When you donate $50, you'll get our MiMS buff—and we’ll donate one to a Member to help them keep running through the winter season. When you donate $100, you’ll score our brand-new MiMS-branded MiMS wool knit cap. At $250 level, our "Run More, Judge Less" camp cup is yours.
P.S. On Thanksgiving Day I'll be running the "Drumstick Dashongside a Resident or Alumni Member. This is the year-end race for Mile in My Shoes—come see the MiMS family out on Lake Harriet the morning of the 28th!
Thank you for supporting me and Mile in My Shoes!
