For 12 years, the Minneapolis Monarch Festival has thrilled audiences with our celebration of the Monarch's 2,300-mile journey from Minnesota to Mexico. We feature hands-on and performing artists, cultural cuisine, and experts sharing their knowledge of Monarchs and how to conserve and grow more habitat.
Like the Monarch, the Festival is facing serious challenges for our future.
As we look down the road, we see major interruptions to our funding streams for arts and festivals. Grant funding for 2021 will be greatly reduced - if not eliminated altogether. This represents more than 60% of the Festival's income.
Let's not wait until next year to address what is coming. Let's start securing the future of the Minneapolis Monarch Festival today.
Each year, about 9,000 participants attend and learn about Monarchs. Artists and conservation organizations encourage learning at the festival and take-home conservation actions. Plant Milkweed! Grow Monarchs! The loss of the Festival means the end of support for more than 50 local artists, our audience education, and post-Festival monarch protection actions.

The Festival is produced by the Nokomis East Neighborhood Association (NENA) and the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. All donations received by NENA will be used for the 2021 Minneapolis Monarch Festival. NENA is a nonprofit, tax exempt 501(c)3 organization. Your contribution to NENA is tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. A copy of NENA’s latest financial report is available online: http://nokomiseast.org/about/nena-documents/
