Update #1

Update posted 1 month ago

As the season of giving approaches, it’s a wonderful opportunity to consider the impact of sharing stories. Donating a copy of "What I've Learned About Grandma's Memory" can bring joy and connection to many, especially in local libraries, nursing homes, care facilities, and schools. This heartfelt book not only invites readers to cherish their memories but also fosters intergenerational conversations.

This Give to the Max Day, you have the power to make a profound difference in the lives of older adults and vulnerable people in Minnesota. We face extraordinary challenges.

Elders deserve to live in dignity, with safety, respect, and quality care. But too often, elders suffer from abuse, neglect, and exploitation in long-term care facilities. At Elder Voice Advocates, we stand as a voice for those who are too often voiceless, advocating tirelessly to improve care, enforce safety standards, and hold facilities accountable.

This year, your support is more crucial than ever. We face mounting public policy threats to quality care and transparency in Minnesota. Some lawmakers are likely to be pushing for legislation that would reduce penalties for poor care, weaken staffing requirements, and diminish transparency around serious care issues. Without strong opposition, these measures will expose elders to greater risks and make it harder for families to find safe, quality care.

To fight back effectively, we need to expand our research capabilities through our Elder Care IQ screening tool. With your support, we can collect and analyze vital data that reveals the root causes of poor care and provides clear solutions. This research will enable us to educate the public and advocate for data-driven policies that improve care standards and prevent the needless suffering of vulnerable residents of long-term care residences.

With your donation, you’ll help us fight back. Your support will enable us to push for stronger protections, improved oversight, and meaningful reforms that will keep elders safer. It will allow us to expand our new Elder Care IQ screening tool, empowering elders, families and caregivers with critical information on long-term care providers so we can make safer choices for ourselves and loved ones. Your contribution will also help us pursue public policy protections and oppose efforts to weaken elder care protections and champion public policies that ensure dignity and respect in every facility.

Together, we protect Minnesota’s elders. Your donation today goes directly toward our mission to safeguard elders' rights, dignity, and quality of life. Every dollar counts, and every dollar goes directly into the work we do.

Let’s honor elders by ensuring safe, dignified care.

Will you give today to protect elder Minnesotans?

With deep gratitude,
