Background: We received a $10,000 Minnesota State Arts Board grant to support a second production of "Only Ugly Guys." This funding will pay for our Playwright, Director, Technical Director and four actors. While we apply for corporate/private foundation grants, partner with theaters and venues, and build other revenue from merch and concessions, we need your support to amp up the technical elements of this second production in August-September 2025.

Mission: Running Errands stages relevant, boundary-breaking live theater. Recognizing theater as a niche art form, we (a) identify methods to combine experimental & commercial practices, (b) stay in conversation with the zeitgeist, and (c) celebrate the uniqueness of live theater.

Project: Depravity and enlightenment, protection and liberation, love bombing / situationships / ghosting / et al – “Only Ugly Guys” delivers a stark reflection on how affection manifests in a non-committal, algorithm-fueled culture. Told through four short stories from the unique, unreliable perspective of each character, “Only Ugly Guys” experiments with what theater can be, using modern romance as its medium. Placing the audience in the role of voyeur, confidante, enabler, and friend, these scenarios interrogate, “When you have access to anything, what do you really want?”

FAQ:
Why can't I donate to Running Errands directly?
We are fiscally-sponsored by Springboard for the Arts as part of their Incubator Program. This means we aren't ready yet to be a non-profit (bylaws, board, accounting). As a project-based company, we're trying to work on the art and leave the business side to the pros.

What's Springboard for the Arts?
Springboard for the Arts' mission is to support artists with the tools to make a living and a life, and to build just and equitable communities full of meaning, joy, and connection. Founded as an independent nonprofit in 1991, Springboard for the Arts has an innovative 30-year history of supporting artists making a living and a life and artist-led community development work.

What's with this admin fee?
Fees are optional! You can choose if you want to cover this or having Running Errands have these fees deducted. Fees help Give MN maintain their fundraising platform and process credit card donations, provide no-cost resources and training opportunities, and award more than $179,000 in grants each year. While fees are never fun, Give MN allows Running Errands to receive funding through tax-deductible donations.
