In March 2025, or the first time since 2020, Transatlantic Love Affair (TLA) will premiere a new, full-length piece at the Illusion Theater! Red and the Mother Wild is a tale of what lies beyond the bounds of our cultivated lives. Inspired by the themes and hidden corners of Red Riding Hood, the piece weaves revisioning of TLA's 2011 Fringe show, Red Resurrected, with new material developed as part of Illusion’s 2024 Fresh Ink series. Journey with us into the deep dark woods, where wolves are not what they seem, and the wild has something to teach us all…

Your donation on Give to the Max will help us pay our artists (closer to) what they are worth as we rehearse and develop this new work.

About Transatlantic Love Affair:
TLA is a physical theater ensemble based in the Twin Cities.  Since 2010, we have created eleven original works using our signature aesthetic of imaginative physicality and rich storytelling: Ballad of the Pale Fisherman; Red Resurrected; Ash Land; These Old Shoes; Solitaire; Emilie/Eurydice; 105 Proof: or, The Killing of Mack "The Silencer" Klein; Promise Land; The Privateer; The Devout; and After the Fires.  These pieces are short on set and props, but long on heart and imagination, and live fully the tenets of TLA's mission:

Transatlantic Love Affair (TLA) develops original works through collaborative creation that celebrate the human body as the ultimate theatrical instrument, and unite artists and audiences in imagining new worlds together.

In pursuit of our mission, TLA is dedicated to:

  • reimagining old stories to speak to issues of current concern;
  • nurturing talent within our core company and larger pool of collaborators;
  • the diverse representation of bodies and identities onstage and in the collaborative development of new work;
  • equitable payment for artists.

As a company whose aesthetic requires little in the way of traditional theater trappings (no sets, no props, and very simple costumes), the bulk of our financial resources goes directly to artists.  Our company members and collaborators are truly the heart of Transatlantic Love Affair, and we value them accordingly.  Your donation on Give to the Max Day will go directly to paying the artists that make the work, allowing us to continue to create more of the art you love.

Thank you for your support!
