On The Record’s mission:

- Uplift arts and artists in Duluth-Superior
- Increase access to local arts news, announcements, and opportunity
- Support a thriving arts scene that in turn supports a vibrant local economy
- Build community within and around the arts

On The Record Duluth-Superior Music and Arts Zine serves as a pillar of the Duluth arts ecosystem, continuously adapting and evolving to meet community needs. What started as a grief project in June 2023 has grown into its role as a major catalyst in revitalizing our local arts scene - a key sector of our Duluth economy. The immediate and sustained community excitement around this publication has been palpable.

Included in each edition is a clear and resolute 2-week listing of all Duluth-Superior arts shows and events, as well as art exhibitions on view. Rather than rely on stakeholders to submit information, key information is sought out ffrom a now well-defined list of venue/institution websites, social media, and physical community bulletin boards, as well as event submissions. Each edition also features a variety of arts content: local arts news, announcements and opportunities, local artist music release features, arts research articles, arts advocacy, feature artwork and comic art, arts event spotlight articles, artist interviews, etc.

There have been previous independent arts publications in Duluth; however, On The Record is centered on serving and uplifting artists, with extra intentionality to put female and nonbinary artists and artists of color at the forefront.

If you love this community resource, please help it keep going and growing! Your contributions help offset printing costs, support local writers and artists, and enable cool new public arts developments.
