DISMANTLING THE STRUCTURES AND REPAIRING THE DAMAGE OF RACISM IN MINNESOTA
In the wake of the police killing of George Floyd the church bodies leading Minnesota Council of Churches announced a 10-year vision for truth and reparations to be enacted through the Council.
Through the work of Rev. Pamela Ngunjiri and Rev. Jim Bear Jacobs we have developed a robust program of education, training and reparations planning.
In 2024 this included:
- Presence at the statewide Martin Luther King Jr., breakfast,
- Publishing a chapter about land back in the church facility book "Gone for Good,"
- Speaking to congregations about racial justice and reparations,
- Hosting BIPOC faith leaders for a time of pastoral comfort led by Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan,
- Offering a keynote at the Facilitating Racial Equality Conference and its dozen-plus satellite locations
Our team continues to educate about Minnesota's racial legacy, help communities develop cross-racial competency, and facilitate actions for repair in Minnesota.
