The Lex-Ham Community Band is a volunteer musical ensemble composed of residents and students who live in the Lexington-Hamline and surrounding neighborhoods of St. Paul, Minnesota. The group is directed by Austin Virasy-Ertelt. The band plays Sousa marches, show tunes, classical concert band pieces, and swings to jazz and Dixieland arrangements. The ensemble performs throughout the year at neighborhood festivals, larger events such as the Selby Avenue Jazz Festival and Grand Old Day, and at many nursing homes around the area. The band hosts the annual Lex-Ham Music Festival that celebrates the many fine music ensembles that include performers young and old in and around the Lexington-Hamline neighborhood of Saint Paul. The group practices on Sunday nights of each month from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. in either the Band Room or the Community Room at Concordia University-St. Paul. The ensemble is open to anyone, young or old, who wants to come to the practices and play in the concerts.
