Keene Creek Mountain Bike Skills Park COGGS

COGGS is seeking funds to finish the first Bike Skills Park within the City of Duluth at the Keene Creek Park in West Duluth, MN. All donations will go towards a skills trail focused on kids and new riders.

What is a Bike Skills Park?

The purpose of the skills park is to enhance accessibility to the Duluth Traverse multi-use trail system. A skills park is a bicycle playground where individuals of all ages and skill levels can nurture their mountain biking abilities and boost their confidence before venturing onto the trails.

Who is it for?

This skills area caters to individuals of all skill levels and mirrors what you might encounter out on the trail. By riding in the skills area, you can ride various features multiple times to hone specific skills. This creates a much safer environment for riders to prepare for their upcoming trail experiences or simply have fun while waiting for the next group ride.

Bike Skills (development) Parks are a valuable community asset, offering a controlled space for both beginners and experts. Activities within the skills park encompass a wide range, including simple ladder bridges, skinnies, small beams, jumps, and berms.

Where is Keen Creek Park?

Keene Creek Park is a 13-acre urban park in the Fairmount Neighborhood of West Duluth. It is in a unique location under Interstate 35 bridge decks and adjacent to Grand Avenue, surrounded on all other sides by local streets and single-family homes. The proximity to families with kids and the access from the cross-city trail makes this an excellent location for Duluth's first skills park.

Timeline

Coggs broke ground on this project in the spring of 2021. With the dedicated work of a volunteer crew, the first phase of jumps has been coming together over the past seasons. Our goal for 2024 is to focus considerable funding towards this project for a grand opening of the first phase in the summer of 2024.
