Give to the Max is Minnesota's largest fundraising day for non-profits & we would love if you helped No Dog Left Behind (and us!) reach their fundraising goal. No Dog Left Behind (NDLB) is a volunteer- and foster-based animal rescue, meaning that all of their dogs are placed in foster homes until they are adopted.
This year has brought five foster dogs into our lives. We are hoping to take one more before the end of the year, to make 2024 the year we fostered the most dogs! Our Give to the Max Day fundraiser is dedicated to our most recent fosters: Mochi, Ninja, Runaway, S'mores, Bessie, and Hazey.
Mochi was a lil beagle rescued from a puppy mill. She was the first dog we fostered after Samson died, and I'll always remember her as being a part of my grieving process. Mochi was curious, loving, persistent, and goofy. My favorite thing about her was that she would stand on the bathtub and keep us company while we showered. Mochi is now called Mookie and lives with her beagle-loving mom and dad.
Ninja was rescued from a high-kill, overcrowded shelter; he shared a small kennel with several other dogs. He came to us heartworm positive and had to undergo three months of intensive treatment. Ninja did not let that crush his spirits - he was a happy-go-lucky pup without a single chip on his shoulder. His favorite way to nap was perched on top of the couch, just like a cat. We loved this guy so much! Ninja is now named Cooper and lives with his mom, dad, human brother, and furry sister Rosie. We've gotten to dog sit him and Rosie!
Runaway was a corgi rescued from a puppy mill. He was one of the most chill and easy-going dogs we've ever fostered. He loved to lay in the hammock with us and enjoy the warm weather. We only had Runaway for around three weeks, but we get to dog sit him on occasion! His new name is Fiddle and he lives with his dad, some roommates, and another short-legged pup.
S'mores was a previous foster that had been adopted and then returned. I absolutely cherished the new time with her! S'mores was always one of my most favorite fosters. She loved to play ball, get pets, voice her opinions, and run around the yard like a madwoman. I truly feel honored that S'mores trusts me so much. She now lives with her mom, dad, and furry sister Sophie. We get to dog sit them both soon!
Bessie was pulled from the euthanasia list of an overcrowded shelter, and we are so thankful she gets a second chance at life! Bessie was an energetic and goofy girl that kept us on our toes. She carried stuffed animals around in her mouth, which was so freaking cute. She was very affectionate and we loved her to pieces. Bessie kept her name and is living with her mom, dad, and furry sister Piper.
Hazey is our current foster and was rescued from a puppy mill. She is, by far, the most shut down and scared dog we've ever fostered. We've had her almost two months and she still shies away from us when we approach. Hazey is making small progress every day and we celebrate the small moments! As of a few days ago, she is now (sometimes) coming to me when I call her. I really enjoy Hazey and we are starting to build a bond.
*We'd also like to acknowledge Sarah, a beautiful pup with heartworm that we were supposed to foster this year. She was lost (possibly stolen) just a few days before her arranged transportation to Minnesota and hasn't been found yet. We are holding out hope that she will make her way to us one day!
We love all of our wonderful, beautiful, sweet, naughty, unique, loving, and life-changing foster dogs and can't wait to help more dogs in the future. By donating to NDLB, you are supporting a fantastic rescue on it's mission to give dogs a new chance at life. Donations are used to cover vetting bills and the cost of food and other supplies. Thank you for donating! If you ever have questions about fostering, we are happy to answer them :)
