Guess who?!?

Update posted 2 years ago

Bright eyed and bushy tailed! (Very bushy!)

Dolce busted out of emergency care this morning and is settling in to her new routine for the next 2 weeks of at-home isolation.

It's going to be hard.... for her and for her foster family. But she is already SOOO much better! And she had a nice, normal, FORMED poo - which will help make sanitizing after her that much easier!

We are grateful to the wonderful medical staff that nursed this sweet babe back to health. We will give her a month to recover and gain some weight before getting her in for her spay surgery.

Welcome back, Dolce!

We haven't yet seen her bill, but were told it will be near the high end of the estimate - almost $10k.

Add that to our other major medical cases, and we're pretty darn close to $20k in veterinary care since the start of 2023. Every dollar raised will help us pay off these hefty bills and make it easy to say yes to more dogs needing our help.

We're pleading for help.

Dolce hadn't been feeling well. She was rushed to an emergency hospital because she hadn't eaten in days. She had been vomiting for over 24 hours, and was quite lethargic when her foster mom got home.

She was fine two days prior!
And then it slapped us across the face....A word no rescuer wants to hear...... PARVO.

Canine Parvovirus is HIGHLY contagious and is spread by direct dog-to-dog contact and contact with contaminated feces,  environments, or people.
This is scary stuff! And treatment is NOT cheap. It requires hospitalization for supportive care and management of symptoms.  We're talking days of expensive hospitalization.
After initial exams and diagnostics, we have been quoted $4604-$9227.

Gia had her leg amputated
Cayden was literally peeled off a frozen highway with severe mange.
Mom and TEN babies needing complete vetting.
And now Dolce.....
All of this to start the new year, it's only January 8th.

What's worse, it could have easily been prevented. THIS IS WHY PETS NEED TO BE VACCINATED. And this is why we are so strict on our expectations of foster families and adopters. Had she been in a home with unvaccinated dogs, or the 8 week old pups we just took in, it could have easily been a horrific parvo massacre. But so far 🤞🤞🤞🤞 she is the only one sick. And thanks to a proactive foster family, it should remain that way.
We are begging for help. We're nearing $17k in vet expenses in only eight days. SEVENTEEN THOUSAND IN EIGHT DAYS!!
We will never survive 2023 if we can't build back our funding.  We entered 2023 with $30,000 LESS than we had last year. Now throw in a few medical emergency cases, and we are scared.
