Barnyard Buddies STOP for Peace Mentoring Program

Your contribution will make possible a mentoring program using The Barnard Buddies STOP for Peace book by Julie Penshorn and published by Smart Tools for Life.    

A PeaceMaker Minnesota  school that is fully open will use the Mentor Program information at the back of The Barnyard Buddies Stop for Peace book.  Older students will then be prepared to serve as mentors and will facilitate  a conversation with younger students grades Pre K – 3 about the conflict resolution steps described in the book (Stop and breathe, Tell how you feel, Open your mind, and Plan a deal).

 At the end of the conversation the Peace Mentors ask the younger students to draw a picture or to write about how they used the STOP process to resolve a conflict.  A week or two later the mentors return to the classroom to follow-up and to hear the stories of the younger children.  

The school then administers a short survey to the Peace Mentors who will submit some of the pictures / writings from the younger students about how they used the STOP conflict resolution steps.
