Annie S.'s Fundraiser for Family Tree Clinic

I’m raising money for Family Tree Clinic, a nonprofit clinic in Minneapolis, MN dedicated to providing excellent and affordable reproductive and sexual health care services for our communities. 

Family Tree Clinic is trying to raise $20,000 to help offset the cost of care for people using their sliding-fee scale. Your support helps to ensure that everyone has access to the quality health care they deserve, without the burden and stress of worrying about medical bills.

It would mean a lot to me if you made a donation.  As Family Tree staff, I see firsthand the impact this organization has in people's lives:

• I recently had a person, aged 70, tell me that Family Tree Clinic provided them with birth control at a price they could afford when they were 24, and that they've never forgotten the assistance given with care and kindness by Family Tree Clinic.
• I see parents of transgender youth coming in to gain resources to support their children in their personal health care journeys, happy to be welcomed by Family Tree's amazing team of knowledgeable staff in a warm and joyful environment.
• I get to learn from our brilliant and radical staff, who always ask, "What's possible?" and not "What is everyone else doing?" A tremendous breath of fresh air in system that is not designed for us, our care, or for our wellbeing and thriving (i.e., insurance companies that dictate coverage to maximize profit, actively working against the needs of patients).

I know how hard it can be to feel hopeful about the future. Lawmakers nationwide are attacking trans and reproductive rights in a way that is truly regressive. It goes so much deeper than health care. At the core of this fight is bodily autonomy and liberation - the freedom for all individuals to define ourselves, our health, and live accordingly. 

Family Tree Clinic embodies this fight. We are actively engaged in the lifelong work of visioning health care and education in new ways that are guided by anti-oppression, justice, and equity. (And JOY. Did I mention Joy?).

We do this, in part, by trusting and believing people and seeing them as experts on their own lives and experiences. As a community clinic, we also do this with your support. And we can't do it without you.

I'm doing this as part of Give OUT Day, a month-long fundraising campaign culminating on May 30, and the ONLY national day of giving for the LGBTQ community. Because in the fight for bodily autonomy, all of our fights are interconnected.
