In this unprecedented time of educational change, help MAS provide STEM mentoring and enrichment for underrepresented students.  Support our FORSE program with your gift and contribute to equity within the Minnesota STEM community.

COVID-19 has caused tremendous disruptions to our educational system and will continue to do so in the coming year. The necessary pivot schools made to distance learning created unprecedented challenges in terms of ensuring equal access to the kinds of STEM education, enrichment, and independent research activities that open doors to STEM majors and careers. Interruptions to instruction will likely further exacerbate the opportunity gap for under-represented and under-served students in Minnesota.

Our FORSE mentoring program addresses these challenges head on by expanding our current mentoring program for under-represented students (see mnmas.org/forse) to offer additional virtual mentoring and networking opportunities.

Your gift will be matched through a donation from a MAS Board member up to $2,500!

$10 - provides postage for mailing STEM materials to students' homes during distance learning
$25 - provides materials for scientific experiments at our partner schools
$50 - provides coding kit for student from underrepresented background
$100 - provides start up money for coding clubs at our partner schools

Mentoring remains a proven strategy for addressing the opportunity gap. E-mentors can offer vital online STEM opportunities to students struggling to complete math and science homework and projects at home without the usual supports typically offered at school. We seek to reduce the impact of COVID-19 on STEM education in MN by providing virtual mentoring/tutoring as an additional resource for students in need and networking opportunities for STEM teachers, students, and professionals.
