Sustain Summer STEM Learning for St. Paul Students

For the past two summers, our STEM Play Days brought fun, hands-on learning opportunities to youth in St. Paul Public Schools summer programming, keeping them engaged in STEM when school was out! 

This Give to the Max Day, we are raising funds we urgently need to provide these free STEM Play Days to St. Paul Public Schools. 

Due a funding shortfall, we need $5,000 to ensure we can deliver five STEM Play Days in the summer of 2024. Without these funds, we likely can't provide this free service to St. Paul youth. Every $1,000 raised provides one STEM Play Day. That's less than five dollars per student! This means YOUR GIFT HAS A LARGE, DIRECT IMPACT on the number of students we are able to serve.

Curious about these STEM Play Days? Read on! Organized through our FORSE program, each STEM Play Day brings a fun morning of science and engineering to 200-300 students. Although activities vary year-to-year, the purpose of STEM Play Days is always the same -- to provide positive, confidence building experiences with STEM so that students walk away happy, encouraged, empowered, and excited to practice STEM in the future.

Engineering earthquake proof buildings at a 2023 Summer STEM Play Day

During STEM Play Days, students interact with a fun toy or experience that lets them practice different STEM principles -- all while having fun. We tailor activities by age:  younger kids may spend the morning engineering earthquake-proof buildings or building structures out of magnetic tiles to withstand storms while older students enjoy testing the pH of various household liquids to determine if they are an acid or a base using cabbages.
