Its concept is simple: Empty Bowls NE - Minneapolis asks local potters to provide handcrafted ceramic bowls and local restaurants to provide delicious food; guests of the community event pay whatever they can, keep the bowl itself (as a good reminder of the empty bowls in the world and in our community), and 100% of proceeds raised go towards NE Minneapolis hunger causes. Similar projects have been held for years in nearby communities: St Catherine's University, Columbia Heights, Hopkins, Rogers, Northfield, Plymouth, Maple Grove, New Prague, and Powderhorn Park in Minneapolis.

Empty Bowls NE has secured over 800 handmade ceramic bowls. Many Northeast potters have been Empty Bowls participants in surrounding areas, but until recent years had no means to join the effort in their own community. Expanding on that community spirit, Empty Bowls NE has also partnered with Edison High School (Minnesota) Fine Arts department to both produce pottery and provide students exposure for their work and experience interacting with prominent local artisans.

This year's Empty Bowls NE will be co hosted by the Sheridan Neighborhood Organization (SNO).  SNO values addressing food insecurity and is looking forward to being a part of this amazing event.  This year the proceeds will be donated to: Eastside Neighborhood Services Senior Food Shelf, Every Meal and SNO Community Donation Gardens.  There will be a “Pottery Lottery” this year that goes to support Edison High School.

We could not do this without you,

Thank you so much!
