Without the Douglas County Historical Society, pieces of our local history would be lost forever.

The Douglas County Historical Society is the oldest museum and archive in Douglas County, dating back to 1926 when a group calling itself the Historical Society began meeting to hear lectures on local history. Almost a century later, we stand on the decades of dedication and labor that has produced the amazing resource library and collection we care for today as we continue our mission to discover, preserve, and share the history of our county and its people.

We don't—and can't—do this work alone.

Will you support the Douglas County Historical Society with a $50 donation today?

If everyone on our mailing list gave $50, our Fall Fundraiser would be over in minutes.

If everyone gave $150, DCHS would be funded for an entire year.

Your support enables us to develop and share new programs like our rotating photography exhibits at the historic Knute Nelson house (DCHS' physical home), host community events like our quarterly Artifact Chats and Historic House Tour, and bring history to the community through educational offerings at local community centers and schools.

With your help, we can make sure history will always have a home in Douglas County.
