Be Extraordinary Be You

Having lost our 21-year-old son to cannabis-induced psychosis and suicide in July 2021, we founded Be Extraordinary, Be You, with the mission of encouraging youth to be extraordinary and embrace their authentic selves. Unfortunately, our son began using marijuana at the age of 15 in search of social acceptance. We were aware of his battle with addiction, but what we didn't know was that today's marijuana is significantly different from what it used to be, and it can have detrimental effects on the developing brain. We discovered that modern marijuana products can lead to issues such as cannabis-induced psychosis, suicidal ideation, anxiety, and depression.

We embarked on an in-depth examination of our son's personal belongings that he left behind and created a video documenting his steady decline during the last 9 months of his life. We have developed a presentation for both youth and adults, which combines scientific data with our son's personal story. Our goal is to educate parents, students, teachers, and professionals about the dangers of today's high-potency marijuana and its impact on the developing brain, empowering them to make informed decisions regarding its use. Our hope is to reduce the likelihood of other families experiencing a similar tragedy, and we believe that our son would be proud of this mission.
