West Side Solidarity Fund: Emergency Relief for Tenants

The West Side Solidarity Fund is a grassroots fundraising effort to provide economic relief for renters in Saint Paul, MN's West Side Neighborhood (zip code 55107) who are otherwise unable to access state/federal resources due to immigration status and for low-wage renters who have lost income due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

We know that our communities are strong, and have survived and will survive and flourish through hard times. We know that we can show up for one-another and redistribute resources in a spirit of abundance. We hope to facilitate mutual aid between neighbors because we are all connected, and we truly all do better when we all do better.

In times of crisis, we see even more clearly that our economic system is designed for the profit of the few on the backs of the many. We know that our West Side immigrant communities and communities of color have historically been most affected by capitalist exploitation, and continue to bear the brunt of economic inequality. Through this fund, we seek to provide relief to our neighbors most impacted by generational oppression and the current economic crisis.

Are you going to receive a stimulus check from the Federal Government? If you are, and you have not lost income to due COVID-19, consider donating that amount to West Side neighbors who are ineligible for state and federal resources! 

We will open this fund to applications in the coming weeks, applicants will be awarded funds through a lottery process.

El West Side Solidarity Fund es un esfuerzo comunitario de recaudación de fondos para proporcionar ayuda económica a inquilinos en peligro de desalojamiento en el vecindario West Side de Saint Paul MN (código postal 55107). Inquilinos que de otra manera no pudieran acceder a recursos estatales y federales debido a sus estatus migratorio, o para los inquilinos con bajos recursos que han perdido ingresos debido a la pandemia del COVID-19.

Durante estos tiempos de crisis, cuestiones como nuestro sistema económico que está diseñado para el beneficio de unos pocos al costo del pueblo, o iniquidad social, resalten mucho más. Sabemos que nuestras comunidades inmigrantes, comunidades de color, y de bajos recursos en el West Side han sido históricamente las más impactadas por la explotación capitalista y por la desigualdad económica que aun sigue hoy en dia. A través de este fondo, vamos a proporcionar alivio a nuestros vecinos más afectados por la opresión generacional y la actual crisis económica.

Sabemos que nuestras comunidades son fuertes, y sobrevivirán y prosperarán en tiempos difíciles como lo han siempre hecho. Sabemos que podemos apoyarnos unos a los otros y redistribuir los recursos necesarios, con nuestro espíritu de abundancia. 

Esperamos facilitar la ayuda mutua entre vecinos porque todos estamos conectados, y realmente todo lo hacemos mejor cuando todos lo hacemos juntos.
