WCCA is a private non-profit organization that is a part of the National Community Action Partnership. Community Action agencies work at the local level to ensure that local representatives are taking action to change local lives. While our name may sound like a government organization, we are not a branch of the county government system. Our name strictly reflects the community we serve: Wright County, Minnesota. This independence allows us to offer services that can be flexible in addressing the needs of our community. Local partnerships, funding, and donations are crucial to delivering our services.
Donations to this General Purpose fund allow WCCA leaders to use the funds as needed. Some examples of how the funding may be leveraged could include:
- Purchasing protein options for the food shelf
- Meeting the technology needs of staff
- Starting and expanding programs
- and so much more.
The leadership team uses community assessment and strategic planning processes to help make decisions. Oversight of all expenses is provided by a 15-member Board of Directors. Our unique 15-member Board is comprised of representatives from the three different sectors. The private sector is comprised of five general community members. The public sector is made up of five elected officials. Finally, the third sector is five representatives of the low-income sector.
