826 MSP's Uncharted Waters Campaign

At 826 MSP, we find ourselves in truly uncharted waters. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced us to innovate and re-imagine our youth writing, tutoring, and publishing programs. With feedback from the students and families we serve, we have found ways to digitally adapt our existing programming and to respond in the new ways our community needs during this time of crisis. Prolonged school closures and the shift to distance learning means that more students than ever before need the writing education resources which 826 MSP and our sister chapters can provide, but now in new and different forms. Furthermore, as 826 MSP was founded in response to Minnesota’s educational opportunity gap, these disparities will only intensify during this time without added support. 826 MSP is diving in to fill these gaps, and we invite you to dive in with us. 

Your support will enable 826 MSP to continually navigate these uncharted waters, providing virtual tutoring and writing workshops, writing prompts via video, letter-writing between caring volunteers and young authors, and so much more. As with any time of exploration, there will be many turns to-be-discovered and learned from. There will also be unexpected treasures along the way, such as typically-quiet students sharing more readily through virtual chats and new means of including homebound students in our programs. In these ways, the pivots and adaptations created now will make our programs more accessible to more young writers in the long-term.
