This September, I started working with AMAZEworks as the Program Coordinator Fellow through the Quaker Voluntary Service. AMAZEworks champions equity and belonging for all through Anti-Bias Education, providing anti-bias curriculum for elementary and middle school students, training for schools and organizations, and more.
Working at AMAZEworks has helped me realize that I had a lot of mirrors in the books I read growing up. I read about characters who looked like me and had similar life experiences. This helped me develop a healthy and complex identity for myself, but it prevented me from seeing windows into the lives and experiences of people with non-dominant identities and life experiences. Reading the AMAZEworks elementary curriculum as a 23-year-old adult has opened my mind to new perspectives in ways I wish I had in school as a kid. I love being able to help AMAZEworks bring these learning experiences into classrooms in Minnesota and across the US.
I am so grateful to be a part of AMAZEworks and be involved in the Development team preparing for Minnesota's annual giving holiday, Give to the Max. We are thrilled that all Give to the Max Day giving will be matched up to $5000 by one of AMAZE's founders! That means that any amount given will be matched up to $5000.
Any amount supports AMAZEworks' ongoing commitment to serving schools, communities, and organizations in creating the conditions of belonging and equity for all.
Additional suggestions for specific giving amounts include:
- $85 for a book set
- $100 for a curriculum guide
- $50 for a teacher's attendance in an AMAZEworks workshop
- $275 for a Persona Doll bundle
- $25 for an outfit for a Persona Doll
- Any amount that is meaningful to you is meaningful to us.
Your gift will make a difference in the lives of children and adults as we create the conditions for belonging in Minnesota and across the US. Help AMAZEworks expand our reach. Thank you for supporting me and AMAZEworks with your donation!
