Over the years, I have learned that you care about the future of our environment and Wayzata’s community spaces. That's why, as a member of The Wayzata Conservancy Board of Directors, I’m excited to share an opportunity where your passions can make a real difference!

The Panoway’s Plaza and Lakewalk is becoming a vibrant space where people can come together, relax by the water and experience the best of downtown Wayzata. But this is just the beginning.   Our final phase is all about preserving Wayzata’s environment and history, creating something truly special for the future.

As a generation that values sustainability and community, your support can help make this vision a reality. By donating, you’re not just contributing to a project—you’re investing in a future where our community thrives, our environment is protected and people of all ages can come together to learn and grow. Completing our shared vision will include 4 key components:

1.) The Sandvold Lakeshore Learning Center

The old Section Forman House, soon to be the Sandvold Lakeshore Learning Center sits just a few yards from our cherished Lake Minnetonka. This historic home will be restored and repurposed with indoor and outdoor classrooms and community space. Curriculum will be curated by our local partners, Wayzata Community Ed, the Sailing Center and the YMCA of the North.

2.) Shoreline Restoration
The growth of Wayzata and the popularity of the lakefront has taken a toll over the years, impacting water quality, plant and animal life, and the health and well-being of Lake Minnetonka. Shoreline restoration will reintroduce native plants, trees and pollinator habitat restoring 1,600 lineal feet of lake edge.

3.) Eco Park

Eco Park

A new park next to the Sandvold Lakeshore Learning Center will restore shoreline marsh and improve water quality. The park includes many opportunities to create “Living Eco-Classrooms” along the lakeshore for STEAM based learning in collaboration with our local partners..

 4.) Depot Park
Eco Park

The expanded and remodeled park surrounding the historic Wayzata Depot will feature expanded gardens and a new restroom facility. Visitors will enjoy new lawns, decks, and terraces with seating, picnic tables and a community hearth.

So, why wait? 2024 is coming to an end and its tax deduction is there for the taking! Whether you can give a little or a lot, your support makes a huge impact. Let’s come together and create something amazing for Wayzata’s future!

Thanks for being part of this journey with us. We appreciate your support and commitment to making Wayzata a better place for everyone.
