Sean Keane was a man who understood the power of a strong foundation. His love for dance was the very heart of his life. It was through dance that he met the love of his life, his sweetheart for 67 years. It was how he played with his children, letting them dance on his feet when they were young. But Sean’s foundation was more than just physical; it was social and spiritual—built through years of hard work, resilience, and a deep commitment to others.

Born in Fethard, Tipperary, Ireland, as the oldest of nine children, Sean’s early life was shaped by necessity. Formal schooling ended when he was just 14, as he stepped into the workforce to support his family. Sean’s mind was sharp, and his mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills became the foundation of his career. He worked in England and Wales before making his way to America in 1956, sponsored by a distant cousin. There, he began training as a carpenter—a trade that would become the cornerstone of his life.

Over the years, Sean built not just houses, but a legacy of craftsmanship, dedication, and community. As a self-employed builder, he constructed and remodeled homes, and in a beautiful symmetry, he built over a dozen dance floors—each one a literal foundation for the joy and connection that dance brought to people's lives. For Sean, buildings were more than shelter—they were a place where memories were made, families grew, and communities came together.
