Empowering Community through Community Leaders

Community work can not be accomplished successfully without the participation of the community. 

At ACER, we hold the voices of the community at the core of our work. Our volunteer canvassers, door-knockers, and phone bankers are critical part of our work. Without them, we lose massive capacity in reaching our community.

During the months leading up to the General Elections of 2024, our canvassers have put in over 950 hours of work in engaging the community, collaborating with the ACER team, identifying systemic barriers, adapting strategies, and empowering the community to make informed voting decisions.

With over 22,000+ phone calls, 550+ individual voter pledges, and a increased voter turnout of 22% and 17% in Brooklyn Park and Brooklyn Center respectively, the hard work, the endless hours, and the tenacity of our canvassers is evident!

Our canvassers' work goes beyond voter engagement pre-elections. They are critical in collecting community voices in all aspects of our work: from housing issues to economic development needs in the community. They are trusted voices in the community and are crucial in spreading pertinent, accurate information within it. They provide us with unique perspectives and help brainstorm solutions to community problems.
