Between 2017 and 2021, fatal opioid overdoses in Minneapolis increased by 130% from 2017 to 2021. Southside Harm Reduction was founded in 2017 with a goal of providing harm reduction services primarily to the unsheltered, Indigenous community in South Minneapolis, as well as other people who use drugs.

Harm reduction saves lives, and your donation directly supports that life-saving work in our communities.
Southside Harm Reduction is the largest syringe exchange program in MN and the only mobile program offering deliveries in the Twin Cities Metro. We serve the community through:
- Distributing safer drug-use equipment, education, and referrals to care and services via street outreach and on-demand mobile delivery
- Distributing the opioid overdose antidote naloxone (aka Narcan)
- Conducting community trainings on naloxone and harm reduction
- Advocating for the rights of people who use drugs in Minneapolis
- Referral to basic-needs services
- Rapid HIV testing and connection to services
- Hazardous waste clean-up
Last year, we distributed 1.2 million syringes, 52,237 doses of naloxone, and trained over 829 people in overdose prevention.
