Ruby’s Pantry - Hunger relief

Ruby's Pantry is about people … real people. People just like you and me! From the youngest to the oldest we believe that people of all ages are important to God and should be important to us. It is our mission "to activate people in being alert to the needs of others and to be proactive in encouraging faith, showing friendship and meeting the tangible needs of neighbors, friends and strangers regardless of race, religion or ethnicity.

Ruby's Pantry was started in 2003 growing from a pickup load of food to two distribution centers, 9 semi trucks and handling nearly 1,000,000 pounds of corporate surplus per month. Today Ruby's Pantry has grown into nearly 90 Pop-Up Pantry locations throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and North Dakota.  Ruby's Pantry handles over 34 million pounds of food each year and serves over 300,000 families a year with shares of food.  For a $25 share donation, guests receive an abundance of groceries that would normally be food suppliers/distributors overage and surplus that would normally end up in landfills. 

There is no income or residency requirement and ANYONE looking to extend their monthly grocery budget can attend any of the Ruby's Pantry locations.  Pop-Up Pantry locations are held by sponsoring churches once each month and is run 100% by volunteers at these Pop-Up Pantry locations.

Home and Away Ministries was founded in 2003 by Lyn Sahr for the purpose of more effectively carrying out the mission and outreach ministry. He is the founder of the ChurchMouse Chronicles and pastor with nearly 25 years experience. Ruby's Pantry is named after Lyn Sahr's grandmother, Ruby Flodin.  Ruby Flodin looked for every opportunity to share food from her pantry with others.  Ruby looked for every way to share food including through her own great garden harvest.  She leaves a rich legacy of having generously used her pantry, and whatever she had, to supply an abundance of nourishment, help and love to friends and strangers alike. Ruby's Pantry is not affiliated with any denomination and depends solely on the financial support of those with a heart for this ministry.
