In the last 3 years, as grocery prices have skyrocketed, the use of the HIVE Supply has tripled.
RCTC's Hive Supply campus food pantry provides free, healthy food to students who are experiencing food insecurity. We firmly believe that by addressing this fundamental need, we can support our students' academic success, improve retention rates, and help them complete their degrees.
Like many food pantries and food banks, the HIVE Supply is struggling to meet demand without the purchase of supplemental food items (at higher costs). Cash donations to the HIVE Supply allow us to purchase the items that are not likely to be donated. This is especially true for protein and perishables. How do you make hamburger helper with no hamburger?
To support RCTC students facing food insecurity, the Rochester Area Foundation is offering 2 challenge grants in November.
1) $5000 HIVE Supply Matching Challenge: Every gift made to the HIVE Supply in November will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to a total of $5000. If we are successful, this will help raise $10,000 to feed students facing food insecurity.
2) HIVE 100 DONOR Challenge: If 100 individual donors make a gift of $10 or more in November we will unlock an additional $1000 to support our students.
All gifts made online between November 1-November 16 will qualify the RCTC Foundation for additional prizes, such as an hourly $500 prize draw, and the chance to win a $10,000 golden ticket.
