Why Raptors?
As top-of-the-food-chain predators, raptors are our lens into the health of the shared environment. Surveilling and aiding in raptor health is an early detection system, alerting us to wider ecosystem challenges happening down the rest of the food chain.
Anyone can help injured, sick, or displaced raptors if you know where to take them. Lucky for our raptors, you have found the birthplace of raptor medicine.
Our world renowned hospital is nearly 100% donor supported.
A gift of $19.74 (in honor of our founding year) buys the crucial medical (IM) pin that is surgically inserted into the hollow bones of raptors to mend life-threatening breaks and fractures. The surgical techniques to stabilize raptor bones were developed at The Raptor Center and have saved the lives of countless raptors in MN and across the world. Help us celebrate the birthplace of modern raptor medicine on our 50th anniversary.
Our veterinarians begin providing care to injured raptors at the moment of admission. Are you ready to scrub in?
$5.00 (for five decades) can suture a raptor wound
$19.74 (for our founding year) can implant the IM pin needed to mend a broken wing.
$32.00 (for 32k birds treated) can bandage a raptor during its recovery in our hospital
$50.00 (for 50 years of innovation) can supply medications that save raptors lives.
You can help us perform life saving orthopedic surgeries for raptors. Performing an orthopedic wing fracture surgery can cost $1,500 or more, and raptors don’t have health insurance. Instead, our raptors have something better than insurance and that's YOU! Since 1974, innovative raptor care has been made possible at The Raptor Center through the small but mighty donations from community members like you.
Today, every dollar donated will be matched up to $60,000 by a group of raptor heros. Raptors are apex predators that require incredible strength and need to be in tip top shape in order to survive in the wild. Your gift will help…
Want to make an even bigger impact?
The Raptor Center’s 50th year of caring for birds in need is on track to be our busiest by far, currently outpacing our previous record of 1,058 birds in one year by 15%. As our case load increases, so too does the yearly cost of caring for these magnificent raptors.
$250 can replace a raptors damaged feathers through a procedure called imping.
$500 can provide a month of medical PPE for TRC staff and volunteers.
$1500 can cover an orthopedic surgery for an injured raptor.
Have your gift doubled now and help TRC keep raptors soaring for 50 more years!
