MN SNAP (Minnesota Spay Neuter Assistance Program) is a nonprofit focused on keeping Minnesota pets and families together. MN SNAP provides affordable, high-quality spay and neuter services at our headquarters in North Minneapolis as well as via our mobile surgery vehicle, which travels to shelters, rescue groups and underserved communities across the state.

Since MN SNAP began offering services in April 2010, we’ve:

  • Traveled more than 320,000 miles across Minnesota;
  • Performed more than 159,200 sterilization surgeries throughout the state;
  • Decreased the community cat population in Minneapolis;
  • Prevented the birth of more than 5 million unwanted pets;
  • Saved rescues and shelters more than $1.59 million in veterinary care costs per year;
  • Saved low-income families more than $4.8 million in veterinary care costs per year; and
  • Helped Minneapolis Animal Care and Control increase their live release rate to a record high of 93 percent.

After March 23, 2020, MN SNAP halted all services due to the pandemic. Services resumed in MN SNAP's headquarters in late May 2020, but travel outside of Minneapolis remains on pause. Higher Covid-19 rates in the metro area and fewer healthcare resources in greater Minnesota informed this difficult decision. As of May 1, 2021, the Covid-19 vaccination rate in Minnesota reached 46 percent. By continuing to practice physical distancing measures, proper use of face masks and rigorous sanitation methods, MN SNAP will resume services in rural Minnesota this summer — this time, with a new mobile surgery vehicle!

We've been working hard to provide essential services and have only seen the need increase, especially in rural Minnesota. We can't wait to once again offer the more than 9,000 surgeries performed on our mobile surgery clinic each year. Minnesota families need MN SNAP more than ever. We need your support to continue to offer affordable spay/neuter services and vaccinations, and keep pets with families that love them.

Donate today to stop pet overpopulation, and help Minnesota pets live longer, healthier lives.
