Psalm FM is listener supported and non-commercial. We seldom have 'extra' funds available in our budget - but God always seems to provide for the need as we make it known.
The transmitter for our 100 thousand watt signal is located in far northern Minnesota and up until recently we have had no available backup for this transmitter. In the event of a failure of this transmitter we are off the air, and orders for parts can take several days to be shipped and installed - even longer if they have to be fabricated for our 34 year old transmitter.
We were recently blessed by the gift of a large FM transmitter from another radio ministry and are in the process of installing it for our 100 thousand watt radio signal. Our current (much older) transmitter will be set up as a ready-to-go backup, able to be switched into service quickly in the event of a major technical problem.
The newer transmitter is now in place, frequency and power changes have been made and remote control connections are hooked up. We are installing duct work for transmitter cooling and preparing to connect the electrical service.
We are asking if you would like to help us with the cost of the remaining parts. The antenna switch, feed lines and connectors needed for the RF (Radio Frequency) portion of the project have been quoted at $8,550, plus shipping.
With your help we will be able to return to the air quickly if we have a transmitter failure or stay on the air as we perform preventive maintenance.
