Living at Home of the Park Rapids Area’s mission is to mobilize volunteers and other community resources to enable seniors to remain in the home of their choice.

In the calendar year 2022, Living at Home mobilized 69 volunteers, who served over 300 seniors. Our volunteers provided over 4500 hours of service, driving over 50,900 miles in service to seniors right here in our own communities.

Our volunteers are all very precious to us, as each volunteer brings a unique skill set to the service they provide to our seniors. With the help of our volunteers, we are able to assist our community's seniors with their goal of aging gracefully in the home of their choice, for as long as possible.

Living at Home is located in a rural area of North Central Minnesota and we have wonderful health care right here in our community, and our health care options are growing every year. However, specialist care is usually available in the larger towns surrounding us, and transportation is often needed. Even if our seniors can accomplish all of their doctoring in our own community, it might be a trip of several miles to get them to their appointments.

Many of our volunteers also help with daily tasks, such as grocery shopping, running errands, or simply visiting and providing a caring presence to our seniors. Our volunteers can be reimbursed for various aspects of their service, and your Give to the Max Day contribution helps us achieve a positive working relationship with our current volunteers, as well as recruiting efforts for new volunteers.

Living at Home is also working with the community of Park Rapids to establish a Dementia Friendly Community. We have also hosted notable Dementia and brain change expert Teepa Snow and her team for a day-long seminar meant to educate professional healthcare workers and care partners alike.

Your will donations help fund these programs and contribute to our efforts to aid seniors with their daily needs, allowing them to remain in the home of their choice.
