44 parrots requiring emergency transfer from PA to CO for the health and welfare of the birds

$23,000 goal

  • On January 13th, The Gabriel Foundation was contacted by an avian veterinarian regarding a parrot sanctuary in Pennsylvania in need of emergency assistance. Their parrots were in need immediate relocation for health and welfare reasons, so TGF agreed to take on and provide care for 44 birds of varying species, size, and age, including many with special needs. Two TGF staff members arrived in Pennsylvania on Friday to facilitate the transfer of these birds to their new home in Colorado.

A veterinarian long familiar with these birds has provided TGF with the birds’ available medical histories. Most of the birds have not had full veterinary exams in at least five years. In order to gain a current picture of each bird's health and for the safety of our current flock, all 44 birds will undergo comprehensive wellness exams in order to determine whether any additional diagnostic measures or treatments are necessary.

With your help, we can provide these birds with a safe environment, a healthy diet, plenty of love, veterinary care, and an opportunity for a welcoming family and home.

We seek to raise $23,000 for this transfer so that we may continue to provide assistance to other companion parrots in need. With this rescue coming less than three months after we transferred 37 macaws from Florida to Colorado, obtaining financial support is urgent and crucial.

We are very grateful to announce that the Lafeber Company, an elite provider of premium pet bird food and bird care resources, has generously agreed to match up to $5000 in donations received to help these parrots!

Please help us raise the funding needed for this rescue!
