On October 17, 2015, I will join over 320 students, teachers, administrators, parents, and friends of the Roland Park Elementary Middle School in the 15th Annual Baltimore Running Festival. The goal of our team is to raise funds to bring badly needed resources to our school, with a focus on improving the classroom enrichment opportunities currently available to all our students.
At Roland Park Elementary/Middle School, we understand that learning happens throughout your life with real world and hands on experiences. Academic skills combined with a broad foundation of content are essential tools for future success in school, higher education, and the workforce.
Our focus, beginning this year, is to ensure all students have a unique learning experience that involves direct interaction with people and places that enhance our standard academic curriculum. We have the opportunity to make learning fun and memorable. These experiences can include artist residencies in the school, as well as trips to the zoo, science center, museums, the Symphony, plays, and nearby cities. We are currently planning one quarterly experience for every student in every grade (that’s four or more per student). Most of these require additional resources to fund transportation, admission fees, speaker and performer fees, and additional materials for hands on learning.
We don’t want any of our students to miss out on these critical experiences. Our goal is to raise $50,000 to reduce or eliminate the cost to RPEMS students. Your efforts will allow all students to develop a love for learning and perhaps spark a passion to further their studies and start a college or career path.
Our fundraising efforts will make participation in enrichment activities a reality for all students. We hope you will join us in this effort.
