What is Mindfulness Through Play?
Mindfulness Through Play Previously known as Sweets Kendamas Foundation is a Minneapolis based 501 (c) 3 educational non-profit and community education partner teaching "Mindfulness through Play" in physical education, afterschool programs, summer programs and professional development.
Our Mission: is to teach students how to mindfully regulate challenging emotions, develop a growth mindset and speak to themselves and others with more kindness, encouragement and compassion.
What does it mean to play mindfully?
Mindful play is a to be fully aware of the current activity without judgment. The goal is to observe any thoughts or emotions that arise during play and interact with those emotions and thoughts with kindness and curiosity. It can help children and schools in many ways, including:
Developing resilience: Children can learn to navigate challenges and stressors with greater resilience.
Building social skills: Children can learn important social skills like turn-taking, active listening, and respecting others' perspectives.
Developing emotional intelligence: Children can develop emotional intelligence and a sense of inner calm.
Enhancing focus: Children can enhance their focus and concentration.
Reducing stress: Children can reduce stress and develop a positive mindset.
Since 2018 Mindfulness Through play has Served over 20,000 Students!
Join us in helping raise funds to support the the youth of the twin cities so more students can develop crucial inner personal skills. Funds go directly to supporting equipment for students, operational expansion of our afterschool programs in the Twin cities as well as provide our Mindfulness through Play P.E Program to public schools for free!
Mindfulness is helping students learn how to regulate challenging emotions and negative thoughts but studies from Harvard are showing that it also is helping students do better on tests and achieve higher grades.
