Marcia Claire Barck passed away after a tragic car accident on the morning of March 2, 2021, at the age of 32. She was homeschooled but also took select classes at Northfield Public High School (class of 2006). Marcia graduated with honors from St. Olaf College in 2010 and was accepted into the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2014. Her veterinary career began at the Morris Veterinary Center in Morris, MN where she cared for large and small animals. She relocated to New Prague, MN in 2020 and worked at the Belle Plaine Animal Hospital.
Marcia had a lifelong love of animals which is why Prairie’s Edge Humane Society was chosen for memorial donations by her close friends and family as it is her local, hometown shelter. Marcia’s passion for caring for animals was evident to everyone she met. She had a calm demeanor with animals and loved to teach others about them. During her lifetime, she adopted many pets, including her dogs Griffin and Kenai, cat, Ginger, and rabbit, Ember. She also had a passion for wildlife animal rescue and preservation.
Everyone who had the privilege of knowing her knew the importance of her pets. Kenai was her “vet assistant” who often would accompany her to work, including being a blood donor to other animals, saving many pets’ lives. He also accompanied her on many adventures, including trips to the lake, camping, and many hikes with friends.
We appreciate everyone who has taken the time to visit this page and make a donation in Marcia’s memory. She is greatly missed. Remember to hug and cuddle your pets a little extra for Marcia.
