Thank you for supporting Team Julia's Wings at the 5 Mile Kent Pumpkin Run!! The Julia’s Wings Foundation (‘JWF’) is very excited for our 3rd Annual team run/walk on Sunday, October 25th. Julia's Wings Foundation ("JWF") was founded by the Malsin Family after they lost their daughter Julia and big sister to Alyssa, to Aplastic Anemia in Jan 2012. Julia was only 13 years old when she passed away.
Julia was a truly remarkable girl. Her maturity, strength, positive attitude and determination is something that has made a tremendous impact in many people’s lives.
Last year, we had over 340 runners/walkers and raised over $45,000...truly amazing!
We are grateful to you all and hope we will have an even larger presence this year. We are so driven to carry out Julia’s wishes and we thank you for helping us to do so.
While Julia was so courageously battling Aplastic Anemia, she was keenly aware of the other children that were also struggling to survive. What impacted her the most was the reality that some of these children were often without their families by their side. The unfortunate reality is that Aplastic Anemia is a hematological disease and hospitals do not have the financial resources to assist families. Julia’s Wings Foundation was created in loving memory of Julia to raise awareness of this disease, financially assist families, and fund medical research.
Thanks to the overwhelming generosity, over the last two years, from of our participants, donors and sponsors, we have been able to achieve so much, but the need is still so great. We have partnered with the Aplastic Anemia and MDS International Foundation to create the Julia Malsin Research Fund. We have funded the first of two $30,000 grants, which will be matched by AA/MDS and we have helped over 15 families. Our run this year will continue to focus on these two goals. Please help us Be the Change for Julia; to make a real difference with this disease.
THANK YOU!!!!
