Minnesota ranks last in the nation in offering foundational computer science classes to students. The Minnesota High Tech Association predicts that by 2025 the state will have nearly 200,000 tech jobs. Yet, many of Minnesota’s low-income and minority students – who represent nearly 40% of the state’s student population – do not have equal access to the resources and training needed to meet this demand.
At createMPLS we remove the barriers of cost, transportation, and awareness that prevent students in underrepresented communities from being a part of STEM programs.
Since 2019, we have reached 8600+ students with hands-on programming and the demand for these programs continues to exceed our available funds. We need your support to prepare Minnesota's underrepresented youth to reach their full potential.
