We need you help today as we try to raise at least $15,000 for the Jack's Caregiver Coalition!
When Cassie was diagnosed with Metastatic Breast cancer in 2018 we were both devastated and completely disoriented. One of the first places Dan turned to for help was Jack's. More specifically he attended a Caregiver "Klatch" which is the most amazing support group you can imagine.
At the Klatch, Dan found empathy along with very concrete advice on many of the challenges that we were facing. Dan has been going to Klatches ever since and now helps facilitate them as well. If you want to learn more about the Klatches here is a short video that Dan recorded last year:
This year we are trying to personally raise at least $15,000 to help fully fund the Klatch program. To this end, we will match the first $3,000 in contributions that anyone makes through this campaign. Please consider making a donation to our Give to The “Klatch” Campaign today.
The Klatches are a multi-gender program which we only note because Jack's primary mission focuses on supporting caregivers who identify as male (which is an important niche). Each month we gather at the Urban Growler in St. Paul share laughter and tears and IPA’s and nachos. We love the multi-gender, multi-generational community that has developed around the Klatches and hope you might contribute and spread the word today.
Finally, if you are interested in reading more about the role of caregivers check out these posts from our blog Jack's Being a Caregiver and Caregivers Have Feelings Too.
Thank you so much. Love, Dan and Cassie
P.S. Here is a testimonial from a professional cancer care social worker who observed the Klatch's firsthand:
"The Klatch concept is not your ordinary cancer education or support group. A welcoming environment provides the backdrop for skilled peer facilitators to guide guests through a structured dialogue around caregiver issues, decided upon by the group. Offering nourishment, drinks, and comradery, Klatch participants are sure to gain validation, helpful advice, a sense of belonging, and restoration" - Alicia Cain, Virginia Piper Cancer Center
