WE'RE WAITING FOR YOU!

Hold on a gosh, dang, second! Is it true that KFAI is the most CULTURALLY, GENERATIONALLY, and SOCIO-ECONIMICALLY DIVERSE radio station in THE STATE?!

Is it true that KFAI has been doing this for six years and has NEVER won a GOLDEN TICKET? What a heckin' fantastic and unique way to celebrate the community and raise money for a worthy cause. You must find out more!!

At KFAI, we celebrate Give to the Max Day with 24 hours of FUNK MUSIC on 90.3FM—a proper FUNK-RAISER!! This year, we've been short on new members and charitable donations, so we feel it's time to throw a party so folks can get to know KFAI's new leadership and share in the joy (and magic) that is community radio.

So, on Thursday, November 21st, KFAI is hosting an open house at the station from noon to 4 pm and a community party at Dual Citizen Brewing Company in Saint Paul, Minnesota, from 7 to 11 pm.

THE NUMBERS
Our most significant source of income is through the support of our members and underwriters.

Revenue (FY22-FY24 cumulative/averages)

  • 40% from individual donors like you!

  • 40% from underwriting (all underwriters are vetted for mission alignment and demonstrated shared values).

  • 20% grants (majority state grants and one federal grant through the CPB).

Summary of Expenses (FY22-FY24 cumulative/averages)

  • 100% of our costs are necessary to provide our programming.

  • Our average operating budget over the last few years is $770,000.00.

  • According to the statement of expenses, the station costs $2,155.53 per day.

Expense Breakdown

  • 40% for salaries, benefits, and related taxes. According to industry standards, this percentage is on target. We can accomplish this because of the number of services the small staff provides.

  • 20% for professional services like auditors, accountants, and independent contractors.

  • 15% for rent at the Bailey Building and transmitter site lease at the IDS Center.

  • 15% for equipment and technology.

  • 5% of administrative operational costs, such as postage, office supplies, and the general upkeep of the studio and community spaces.

THE CELEBRATION

So, on Thursday, November 21st, KFAI is hosting an open house at the station from noon to 4 pm and a community party at Dual Citizen Brewing from 7 to 11 pm.

Shimmy your shoulders over to the donate button and drop some love into the FUNKY BUCKET to support operational costs, new educational offerings, updating the web platforms, and furthering KFAI's financial stability.

Together, we're building the next 46 years of joyful and thought-provoking programming and strengthening platforms, equipment, and training tools to better serve the community. A healthy, well-connected intercultural ecosystem fuels meaningful connections and collectively produces the equity we wish to see in the world—dig it!

If you prefer to get down at your own pace, you can always contribute at any time at kfai.org/donate.

Thank you so much for your support!
