Support a new community

Update posted 4 years ago

The job of being a caretaker, income generator, mother and wife is already demanding but when a woman is undereducated, untrained, and lacking a support group it can be overwhelming. Our Community POWer project is addressing this systematic issue one community at a time.

Thanks to the @hanoiiwc and crowdfunding efforts a new community is being trained on how to come together, support and empower one another while learning new skills.

During a recent training in effective animal breeding and improved agriculture farming methods it was obvious the women were gaining more than just new skills, they were building relationships, trust and solidary within in their community.

Your contribution will help us keep this program going strong!

Teach a man to fish and he can feed himself and his family; teach a woman the law and she can play an active role in promoting gender equality and reducing poverty in her community.

Help us bring this program to a new community to break down gender inequities and reduce poverty by empowering women who are the main income generators in their families. We have received another $10,000 grant, but we need your support to keep fill in the funding gaps! With a donation of $5, $10 or $25 you can be the catalyst to women and community empowerment.

Why support these women? Simple, it is families that lack a strong male figure who are most vulnerable to economic and legal exploitation. The goal of this project is to empower women economically, legally and spiritually.

Through rights training they will be able to access services and better understand how to use the law to support them.

With skills training the women will learn how to use common and familiar materials to increase their household income. The focus will be on agriculture and animal rearing techniques that are easy to implement at a minimal cost.

After completing the training, the women can apply for small loans to put their new skills to use. The loans will be returned to a revolving community fund and other members will be able to apply for loans.

While the women receive hands on training, leaders from community organizations will receive training on how to support and foster community development. This important training will create a supportive environment within the community.

When women are empowered, they change the dynamics in the home and in the community.

We have received a $10,000 grant to support this project, but we need an additional $8,000 to fully implement the project.

Chip in any amount you can to help us all work together to foster and promote change from within.
