Friends of Madagascar Mission have two programs to help feed the hungry:
1) Ejeda Hospital is located in south west Madagascar. This area is one of the most arid regions in the country and rated as one of the most susceptible regions to suffer starvation. The annual rainfall is less than 13 inches a year causing crop failure, request locust infestation, vast shortages of food and ultimately starvation. The families are responsible to provide meals for the patient. If a family does not have food, they will not bring a sick family member to the hospital. The Friends of Madagascar Mission provides the basic food needs for a needy family and thus encourages them to come to the hospital with a sick family member to receive medical treatment.
2) Madagascar has 83 prisons. They are overcrowded, dirty and infested with disease. The government does not provide the prisoners with adequate food and so it is up to the families and friends to provide nutritious food. This often does not happen and so the Friends of Madagascar Mission Program provides prisoners rice and a protein. The cost per year to maintain a prison program averages $3,000.00 per prison. Currently we are operating this program in 16 of the prisons. The government begs us to open up more programs in the prisons. So with more support we will be able to expand our program into many more prisons across the country.
One hundred percent of a gift goes to the program. Nothing is taken out of a gift for our administrative costs. This is our guarantee! Our calling is to "feed the hungry"! We thank you for your support!
