Beltrami Neighborhood CouncilHelp us build an Off-Leash Dog Park in NE Minneapolis

The Beltrami Neighborhood Council is working to promote the
development of a dog park in the neighborhood. There
is available land owned by the MN Department of Transportation that has been vacant for decades, located just north of the corner of Hennepin Avenue and Buchanan Street NE on the West side of 35W. The 3.2 acres of land has been identified as a prime location for the newest dog park in Northeast Minneapolis.
It would would transform unused land into a NE destination. The proposed dog park will be centrally located and
within walking distance of many neighborhoods including Beltrami, Como, the University of MN, St. Anthony, Mid City Industrial, NE Park, and it is only a few miles from Downtown Minneapolis. It will be fully enclosed and will have a separate small dog section. There will be two entrances and ample free street parking. Once completed, it will be maintained by the Minneapolis Park Board with support of the Beltrami Neighborhood and the citizens of Minneapolis.
With any successful neighborhood project, there is a need for
time, effort and MONEY to make it happen. With the recent economic recession and the barrage of budget cuts to the state of MN, money to fund projects such as this is sparse to nonexistent. Private donations and the support or our local businesses and neighbors will be crucial as we work towards our goal of building the dog park and building Beltrami.
