I dream of a world where every child is seen, heard, and valued for all of who they are. That’s why, for my 60th birthday, I’m launching 60 days of giving to bring belonging to life for children in Minnesota and across the US.
As a board member for AmazeWorks, an AMAZE-ing nonprofit working to champion equity and belonging for all, I ask for your generous support to raise $10,000 to fund seven book boxes and 12 persona dolls.
What’s a persona doll? A child-sized doll that comes into early childhood classrooms as friends, helping children develop empathy, healthy identities, and respect across differences.
What’s in the book boxes? 20–22 books and curriculum to have developmentally appropriate conversations about topics such as race, gender, family structures, incarceration, grief, loss, adoption and more.
I’ve spent my career teaching English language skills to a wide array of Minnesota newcomers. I've spent countless hours in libraries, a place I've always felt belonging.
Book bans continue to keep countless children from feeling belonging in schools and libraries like I did. AmazeWorks brings banned books back into the classroom so that children see themselves reflected in their learning. For my birthday, I want to help more people feel belonging when surrounded by books.
You can help me realize my birthday wish by giving generously.
Every dollar counts! Spread the word to bring belonging to life.
Thank you for your support,
jolee ❤️
