Christ on Capitol Hill is diverse people brought together by the grace of God to share with others what we ourselves have received.

At Christ, 'sharing with others' manifests through robust building partner relationships. We offer below-market and/or highly subsidized space, including the newly remodeled code-compliant Abundance Kitchen, to several non-profit partners and local small businesses and thereby deeply impact the community around us.

Shobi's Table is a pay-as-you-can food truck café that serves three days a week in the Frogtown, Midway and Capitol neighborhoods in St. Paul. Each week, volunteers help to make and serve an average of 170 meals within the community.

Daily Work serves those with challenges finding and maintaining employment, such as limited English language skills, homelessness, a lack of transportation, a lack of technology access, food and housing insecurity, and more. They assist over 200 community members each year with resume preparation, job searching, and interview skill development, while also facilitating connections to other services to address other life-issues.

Lutheran Advocacy Minnesota advocates for justice in the areas of hunger, poverty and the environment, focusing on affordable housing, homelessness (especially youth homelessness) and predatory lending/payday loans. LA-MN works with the Homes for All Coalition to advocate for public policy that advances the preservation of existing homes, building new affordable homes, and wealth building.

Several other nonprofits or minority-owned small business also use the facility at a cost less than market rate. The Good Acre is a nonprofit with a dedicated team with experience with farming, logistics and the culinary arts, uses the space to train young chefs, many of whom are people of color. West Indies Soul is a Caribbean food catering business owned by a POC woman. In addition to her food business, the owner is developing a mentoring program for youth with Model Cities, another nonprofit. The space is also used by the Plant Bar Café, a business owned by a Black entrepreneur, who wants to address the food desert issue and the lack of healthy food for people of color, and Sambusa Express, Abdi Ahmed's growing business serving delicious sambusas out of their food truck on the West Side.

COCH deeply believes in this good work that deeply impacts hundreds of people in our community, but 2022 finds us in a place of financial distress. Inflation, rising energy costs, and Covid-related income changes are threatening our ability to keep the doors open. If you believe in the good work this building and its partners are creating in our community, please consider a Give to the Max donation.

It is our hope to end this year in the black and on strong financial footing to head into next year. We deeply desire to be able to continue to serve our community by offering low cost and subsidized space to valued non-profits and neighbors. Any amount is greatly appreciated.
