The music, dance, education, and community that comes together regularly under the roof of Celtic Junction Arts Center in the form of concerts, classes, events and community will become a breathtaking mural on our south wall. Artists Marty Ochs and Carrie Finnegan will be designing and producing a large-scale, 60'x20' mural of the thriving Celtic Arts Scene in the Twin Cities.
Mural Artists:
Marty Ochs earned an AA degree specializing in art and design from the University of Minnesota. She has over 30 years experience in graphic art, commercial sign painting, theater prop and set design, T-shirt design, large-scale mural art and detailed illustrations. She is also a published children’s book and cartoon illustrator.
Marty is a free-lance artist and is also co-proprietor of Casey’s Cache, where she, along with her husband, create and sell unique Celtic inspired leather art and items at Celtic fairs and festivals in the Upper Midwest. Over her career, Marty has won several awards for her sculpture and two-dimensional art. From fine art to illustration, this versatile artist takes great joy in projects that serve and support the community.
Carrie Finnigan uses a playful approach to painting, printmaking, and drawing of abstracted representations of human figures and nature. Growing up in close proximity to forests and water, she developed an affinity with the outdoors and was fascinated by the human - natural environment conflict. This youthful interest was formally developed in a B.A. in Fine Art. She delved into artistic practice, honing her preference for using color and line to express emotion.
Gallery Showings throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota. Public Works include “Boundaries” Suite of 13 serigraphs, UW-Stout Gallery. “Collision”, 27’ x 9’ Mural, St. Louis Park High School. “Save the Wetlands”, Postcard cover Art, Minnesota Audubon Society. “Bon Gusto” Magazine Cover, Minneapolis, MN. “Together” Album Cover, ‘The Northerly Gales’. “Untitled”, Brochure Cover, ‘Saint Paul Irish Arts Week’. “The Morrigan’, Brochure Cover, ‘Saint Paul Irish Arts Week’.
