At Hiawatha Academies, we believe every child deserves the chance to grow as a reader, thinker, and engaged citizen. That’s why we’re launching our Empowering Every Scholar campaign to build vibrant, inclusive classroom libraries that support scholars’ unique needs and diverse interests. Our mission aligns with the school's strategic plan of "Equitable Empowerment through Literacy"—creating access to books for every scholar, and ensuring that each classroom is a place where stories inspire and knowledge thrives.

Why Classroom Libraries Matter

Classroom libraries are more than collections of books; they are gateways to new worlds and ideas. Studies show that when children have easy access to books in their everyday learning environment, they become more motivated, develop stronger reading skills, and grow as empathetic, informed members of their communities. For many Hiawatha scholars, classroom libraries offer the only access they have to quality books, especially those that reflect their own lives and introduce them to new perspectives.

How You Can Help

We need your support to provide every classroom at Hiawatha Academies with a robust selection of books that will ignite curiosity and foster a love of reading. From early readers discovering the joy of storytelling to older scholars exploring complex themes, your contribution will directly impact scholars' growth. We have created giving levels that allow every donor to make a difference, from sponsoring a single book to funding an entire library for a classroom.

Giving Levels

• $25 - Book Buddy: Adds one new book to a classroom library
• $50 - Library Builder: Provides three diverse books
• $100 - Storyteller: Adds a small collection of five books
• $250 - Reading Champion: Funds a mini-library of ten books
• $500 - Literacy Leader: Supports a library of 20 carefully chosen books
• $1,000 - Empowerment Partner: Fully funds a library for one classroom

Every donation, large or small, brings us closer to our goal of equipping classrooms with the books our scholar's need to succeed. We’re excited to announce that our fundraising efforts will culminate on Give to the Max Day on November 21, 2024.
