$10,000 goal

The Bell of Two Friends was created by local Artist Karen Sontag-Sattell on behalf of the Ibaraki City as a Gift to Minneapolis in celebration of the 20th Anniversary of their Sister City Relationship.

The Sculpture is based on the 2000 year old mold of a Dotaku Bell found in Ibaraki City.

Due to our Minnesota climate, The Bell of Two Friends experiences cracking of the concrete on the surface.  If the surface cracks are not repaired - cleaned out and filled - water will go deeper into the sculpture resulting in more serious damage.  Repairs to the cracks were completed in the summer of 2020 after more than $8000 was donated to help pay for the repairs.

MISCA is continuing with fundraising as repairs will be needed again in the future (the sculpture was also repaired around 2010).  Funds donated now will be designated for future repairs.
