Black, Bold and Brilliant (BBB) is a Black-led, community-centered, non-profit based in North Minneapolis.
We are dedicated to empowering Black youth and their families utilizing a holistic framework of communal programming rooted in the arts, cultural education, civics, and activism.
We are raising money for our 3rd annual Black youth internship and retreat, "The Future is Ours!". During this internship, we prepare and challenge Black youth to think critically and act in some way to improve their communities. Last summer, our interns tutored younger Black youth in reading and math at North Regional Library. Our interns earn a stipend for their time, dedication and compassionate leadership.
A key component of our internship is our retreat based in nature, where youth can be free of some of the real and felt restraints of their respective home environments. They get a chance to explore away from distractions with activities that help them bond and build their confidence as a team and as individuals. For many it is the first time canoeing, trying archery, building a fire or meeting horses and goats intimately. They support each other and face their fears on high-challenge courses. Our summer program is designed to provide space for Black youth to evolve into their best self as conscious, compassionate and connected youth leaders. We include wellness activities like yoga, hiking, affirmations and African unity circles. We center traditions that affirm self- love, unity, forgiveness, healing, creativity and strength. Youth are exposed to different art practices like collage, painting, dance, poetry, music, photography, etc...
Your generous donations help our organization to continue providing impactful and empowering free opportunities to Black youth and families and is a larger investment in our beloved North Minneapolis Community.
